I’ve been making all sorts of empty promises (at least to myself) about putting together a papercraft toy for quite some time now. I was first exposed to papercraftiness through Vance who for as long as I’ve known him has had several toys sitting on his desk. Last night for whatever reason I finally put rubber cement to paper and constructed myself Big Chief, a flannel clad, NRA belonging, truck driving, chaw spittin’, hunk of man with a mustache that you can’t help but envy. He has taken up residence atop my display where he says that he can better spot any wild game that may have the misfortune to wander into our apartment. He says it reminds him of his deer stand back home. After my success with the Chief I found many more great papercraft toy patterns as well as what to my surprise and delight appears to be a fairly large community surrounding the activity, take a gander, and please if you are aware of any other sources of papercraft toys of note, be so kind as to share them in the comments.

It appears that David Bazan is going to be calling his new solo project Black Cloud. It also appears as I poke around the internets that this is also old news. How did I miss that? All that said I am incredibly excited for some new material from Dave. I can’t think of anything I have heard of his that I haven’t enjoyed immensely. Incidentally I found out this news whilst I was watching some excellent video of Bazan on a site I stumbled accross via it’s hard to find a friend called Cameraphonic definitely worth checking out.
edit: Bazan was featured in Daytrotter today with some free mp3’s for the taking.

Well here we are again at the start of yet another blog. I’m hoping that this is the end of the road for me for a while. I’m going to be using this blog as a bit of a training ground as well as a place to post my thoughts, as well as linkz in the hopes of getting a LOL or two. So bear with me as I test and expand my skills. If anything ends up looking wonky or you have any suggestions please let me know. Now, down to business. Tonigh marks the end of the wife and my mini vacation to Portland. We went up to celebrate Dan and Erin’s wedding . But mostly we went up to see our friends Harmony and Vance. We had a glorious few days in Portland. We met many of Vance’s friends and (hopefully) made them our own, and had some laughs over more Stumptown than I had probably had ever ingested previously. All in all it was an incredible trip. Taking some time off and getting our of town, even if it’s only a few hours away always lends some perspective and this trip certainly did that. A big thanks to all those we got to spend time with for make the trip such a great one. And also a big thanks to Brian for following patiently as we all relied on my less than stellar sense of direction to navigate the rose city.
